The Invisible Enemy

Lord, smile on us and bless your people today. God bless America and heal our land. Almighty God, have mercy on the people of the world today and manifest yourself in love for ALL to see, In Jesus name.

I'm sure you have heard the President, the Vice President, and Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx all use the phrase "The invisible enemy" to describe the virus.

We know more today than we did last Monday... that it's primarily transmitted by touching surfaces of those infected have touched, then touching the face.  Some are exposed by an airbourne cough or sneeze.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology researched how far a cough and a sneeze can travel.

Coughing spreads droplets as far as six metres(more than 19 feet) and sneezing as much as eight metres(more than 26 feet)... and the droplets can stay suspended in the air for up to 10 minutes.

If this is the case, then everyone's going to get it! Thanks preacher for the encouraging words right...

I'm glad the doctors have said it is primarily by touch. They also said wearing a mask is a helpful reminder to not touch your face... you know when you not suppose to touch your face, because everything that could itch and bother you WILL!!!

Let's get back to our thought this morning...

The invisible germs and bacteria all around us are microscopic, so you never see them coming. If infected people or surfaces had a orange glow like a caution sign, we would know how to avoid it and not touch it. But we can’t see viruses, and that just escalates our fears.

This reminded me of a message I preached at the church about Elisha and the young man surrounded by the army of Syria.

Notice some of the story...

2 Kings 6:15 And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?

Elisha was praying and God was telling him what Syria was going to do next. Elisha then told the King of Israel what to do. Someone told the king of Syria about Elisha and that is why the Syrian army came for Elisha...

When the army compassed Elisha and his young servant, Elisha wasn't worried, but the young man was, asking, "master, what shall we do?"

Elisha wasn't afraid because he seen the unseen.

He prayed the Lord "open his eyes, that he may see."

When the young man opened his eyes, he saw "the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire"!

Amen! God's army was with them and Elisha knew God was with him... The first thing he did to help the young man to see what he was seeing was "And Elisha prayed"

When Elisha prayed that God would open his eyes, he suddenly realized that God's army of angels was on their side. God, the Almighty creator of all things was with them. He is with us too.

God is always with us. We can’t escape his presence. But like Elisha’s servant, we have trouble seeing God at times like these. The church is having trouble today recognizing God's presence in this sickness. So how do we learn to see God; to recognize his presence?

We can start right now with prayer just like Elisha did. Lord, open the eyes of my heart so I can see you!

We are looking at the things which are seen when we should be looking at the things that are unseen? The Apostle Paul admonished us...

2 Corinthians 4:18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

God is not invisible for the bible tells us... Christ is,

Colossians 1:15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

And the Lord who is with us, WILL NEVER LEAVE US!  Although we might not always see Him, trust His Word and pray! Psalm 139:7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. 9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; 10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. Jesus said... 20b...  lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Lord Jesus, Thank you for being there even when I can't see you. Amen.

Amen "Wherefore edify(encourage) one another..." 1 Thessalonians 5:11 Seeing in Christ, Pastor Brian
