The War Within

I'm sure many of you picked up on the messages from last week concerning "family". The Cookson Creek Family, The Good Shepherds Family, The Called Family, The Family Altar...

I hope you all made it to The Altar of God, The Lord Jesus today...

I tried to pray all day today. I have felt so out of place the past two weeks. I haven't missed this much gathering with my church family since I was a sinner without God.

It makes me think about my life then and now...

I still have a sickness. I've been dealing with it since I was 19 years old. Everything changed in my life when I received my diagnosis. My sickness hurt my body physically and mentally. My sickness hurt others around me, my family, my friends, those I worked with, those who cared for me, and I have no doubt... my sickness will kill me in time to come.

My sickness is sin.

Preacher! How can you contrast the two?

This COVID19 virus is killing people everyday!

Yes it is and so is sin in people's lives.

Sin kills us everyday.

Sin separates families everyday, whether for just a time(quarantine) or  separated till we meet again in heaven, or forever.

You, the child of God... you know this

God's Word tell us in Galatians chapter 5

17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

There is a battle inside between the Spirit and our flesh. This is why Paul the writer tells us we should "Walk in the Spirit" in verse 16.

We have a wonderful example, a shadow to live our lives in...

Jesus overcame sin and death and hell and the grave! Hallelujah!

We can be overcomers too.

Jesus said, (Revelation 3:21) "even as I also overcame"  YEEESSSS! Look it up people!

We can be victorious in our Christian lives too!

Jesus said, " not my will, but thine be done" Live according to God's will...

Jesus humbled himself and was obedient.

Jesus prayed! We can do that.

Jesus used His Father's Holy Word as His weapon.

Jesus suffered in His flesh because He was sinless and if we want to please God and cause Jesus to smile upon us, sometimes we might suffer in doing so.

I would rather die with the COVID19 virus in the dwelling place of God, in the everlasting arms of the most high, in the right hand of Jesus my Saviour, than to live in this world a healthy God denying, Holy Spirit refusing, church avoiding, Jesus doubting sinner that I used to be, Amen!

Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

Psalm 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

Please remember our church prayer requests and all those listed in our church bulletin.

Pray for one another. Pray for our Nation and our people.

Pray for our military and the churches missionaries all around the world.

Pray for our Police Officers and Fire Fighters.

Pray for all those in the medical field, hospitals and doctors office as they provide patient well care and also to protect themselves.

Heavenly Father, I pray you protect your people today and meet every need. In Jesus name, Amen.

"Wherefore edify(encourage) one another..." 1 Thessalonians 5:11 overcoming my sin in Christ, Pastor Brian
